For those interested in making their way around the sanctuary on their own, maps are available at the entrance gate and signs are posted throughout.

Nature Walks

If you feel that a car trip does not do you justice, you can take nature walks around the sanctuary. You will get to see small animals that you hardly see when you are in a car. But bear in mind that all animals are potentially dangerous.

These nature walks can be booked in advance and are surpervised by well-trained and very knowledgeable Rangers.

Guided Drives

In this activity, you can hire our well trained and very knowledgeable Rangers, who will guide you around the sanctuary in your own vehicle.The activity lasts for only 2 hours.

Game Drives

Our game drives take 2 hours and are lead by well trained and knowledgeable Rangers. These drives provide you with the opportunity to see the animals we have.

You will be going for these drives with one of our rangers, using one of our cars. The ranger will be available to answer any questions that you may have.

The activity is also available for Environmental Educational Center groups.

Educational Activities

It is a facility comprising of conference hall, student and teachers accommodation and campsite for students. The EEC is charged with the responsibility of providing courses for Local, National International and community groups.

It is also tasked with introducing and extending the awareness and knowledge in areas of conservation and environmentalism to the community at large.

Through these activities and observations the students will see the inter connection of plants, animals, insects, soil, weather and water in the natural world.

The EEC can accommodate up to 48 students at any given time in the dorms and 6 teachers (24 boys and 24 girls) There is also a campsite facility available but camping equipment is not provided.

Rhino Tracking

Here, you will get to track Rhinos by following on its tracks and learning a few tricks about the wild. This activity is very interesting and is conducted in the mornings only accompanied by our qualified guides.

The purpose of the activity is not only to find the rhinos, but also to learn some survival techniques and habits that these animals have adopted in their evolution.

The following are some of the things you need to know regarding this activity:

• Starts at 06h00 hours.
• Wear appropriate footwear and bush- colored clothing.
• Only persons aged between 16 - 65 may participate in Rhino tacking
• Groups of eight people may go Rhino tracking at a time.

Curio Shop

We have a curio shop that sells various local crafts, books, maps, souvenirs and postcards.

Wood for fires and braais can be bought here, as well as ice, cold drinks and basic provisions.

Restaurant & Bar

Our restaurant is open to delight day visitors, chalet guests and campers with a variety of tasty traditional dishes as well as delicious regular items. We also have a swimming pool, which is ideal for cooling and refreshing.

The pool is cleaned regularly by our dedicated team. Note that there is a male black Rhino not tamed which can be seen at the restaurant in the afternoon, but avoid hands contact with him.

Picnic Site

An excellent spot for day-visitors to relax and enjoy the peace of the Sanctuary.

You can make use of seating, tables, water and braai-stands for your picnic. There is no charge for picnic sites.
